Atlantic Canada Education Program Advances the NSWOC Profession
The Hollister Canada team recently helped educate Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Atlantic Canada Education Program provided the clinicians with valuable education to help keep them at the forefront of their specialty. It focused on how to provide cost effective care with positive patient outcomes, and included sessions on the economic burden of a peristomal skin complication (PSC), the impact of a PSC on quality of life, the hierarchy of clinical evidence, the ADVOCATE skin health study, Hollister new product development, and ostomy product portfolio reviews. Ostomy Canada Atlantic Regional Director Ann Durkee attended to provide the nurses with an update on resources available through local chapters and support groups.
The key take away messages were that the NSWOC is critical in the prevention and management of PSCs, and that Hollister will continue to support the nurses’ commitment to impacting outcomes and advancing the NSWOC profession.
Thirty clinicians attended the event, which represents 88% of the clinicians in this region.
