Deadline for donations to a Canadian charity is fast approaching

December 31 is the deadline for making your charitable donations in Canada for the tax year 2014.

The Canada Revenue Agency has a handy website to help you calculate how much of a tax credit you will receive.

Just go to this website:

Select your province of residence and tax year. Enter the eligible amount of the donation(s) and select “Calculate” to display the results. For example, in Saskatchewan, a total of $1000 in charitable donations will give you a tax credit of $404.00!

Of course, you can choose any registered charity, but we would like you to consider a donation to Ostomy Canada Society.

There are several ways to do this:

  1. Browse to our donations page ( and choose one of the options:
    1. Donate through CanadaHelps
    2. Donate through PayPal
    3. Print out and mail the donation form.
  2. You have until the end of December to donate to our Stoma Stroll. Click here to go to the website, choose a city from the list on the right hand side and click on the “Donate to the Event” button.
  3. You have until the end of December to donate to GI J’s – No Guts No Glory. Click here to go to the website, and click on the “Donate to the Event” button. All funds received are earmarked for support of Ostomy Canada Youth Camp.
  4. Place a special gift to sponsor a child to go to Ostomy Canada Youth Camp for a day ($100) or for a week ($630). Click here to go to the website.

Ostomy Canada Society appreciates your support! The Ostomy Canada Society is a non profit volunteer based organization dedicated to providing support to persons who have had or may have bowel or bladder diversionary surgery, their families, partners, and caregivers. We are only able to provide these services through the generosity of its donors.

Among the services provided to Ostomy Canada Society chapters and their members are Visitor Training, which certifies and trains ostomates to visit and reach out to others who have just undergone ostomy surgery. As well, all Chapter members receive Ostomy Canada magazine twice yearly, with medical information and personal interest articles. Ostomy Canada Society sponsors the Ostomy Canada Youth Camp, enabling youth between 9 and 18 to spend a week with their peers, learning they are not alone.

A charitable donation receipt will be provided for all donations in excess of $10.00. Unless otherwise directed, your donation will be part of Ostomy Canada Society general funding.

You can be assured your contribution will enable Ostomy Canada Society to continue to provide support and encouragement to others. Thank you for your commitment!
