Dear Everyone,

With sadness, I am writing to inform you that Dielwen (Di) Bracken died suddenly this morning, May 29, 2020.

For those of you who knew Di, this is a very sad moment as we have lost someone who was a great advocate for persons living with an ostomy.

During her terms as President of the United Ostomy Association of Canada (UOAC), 1997-2000 and the International Ostomy Association (IOA), 2004-2007, Di worked tirelessly to ensure that those with an ostomy had a better quality of life. As recently as October 2019, Di agreed to be the Secretary of the North and Central America and Caribbean Ostomy Association (NCACOA), of which Ostomy Canada Society is a member, continuing her commitment to the ostomy world. For many years, she was also involved with Friends of Ostomates Worldwide Canada (FOWC) that sends surplus ostomy supplies to countries in need.

A memorial service has been postponed due to the restrictions we are currently facing.
