Spouses and Significant Others (SASO) / Gutsy Gang Social Group / Ostomy Canada Parents Group

Spouses and significant others of persons with an ostomy, as trained visitors, are prepared to offer help and support to those who request it.

Ostomy Canada Society is proud of its relationships with groups, associations and like minded organizations. Many Chapters and Support Groups have developed “off-shoots” or branches who have a desire to deal with a specific issue or have more common areas to address and share.
Spouses and Significant Others - SASO

The Spouses and Significant Others Support Group (SASO) of Ostomy Canada Society was formed to address the needs of and offer support to spouses, significant others, families and friends of persons with an ostomy. The Spouses and Significant Others are recognized as an integral part of Ostomy Canada Society and meet through their local Chapters and PSGs.

Formed in December 2000, the members have worked hard to achieve a common goal by implementing the following:
  • to provide information and support for spouses and significant others
  • to train spouses and significant others as visitors leveraging the national Visitors Program
  • to become a support group in Ostomy Canada Society
  • to meet from time to time to discuss and share concerns, ideas and solutions

Gutsy Gang Social Club
A forum to meet other young adults (20 – 40 years old) living with an ostomy – to share ideas and support. The Gutsy Gang Social Club is a branch of the Ostomy Canada Society that’s designed to offer a community for younger persons with bowel and bladder diversionary surgeries, such as an ostomy or j-pouch. Groups meet (virtually and face to face) all over Canada, so please contact your local ostomy Chapter to find out more information. Some groups may still be listed as “20/40 Support Group”

Ostomy Canada Parents Group

Have you thought of connecting with other parents of children who have an ostomy? This group is restricted to parents of children with an ostomy and the medical professionals that work with children. Requests to join the group are screened to ensure they meet the criteria.
If you do not meet the criteria for this group, please join our the main Face Book group.
