As detailed in our previous help article on joining Ostomy Canada Society webinars (How to Join Ostomy Canada Webinars), all attendees are now required to download the Microsoft Teams app onto their device. This change is due to Microsoft’s decision to phase out the Microsoft Teams Live Events feature, which we previously used for our webinars, and transition to a new platform called Microsoft Teams Town Hall. The new platform necessitates the use of the Microsoft Teams app for all participants. This knowledge base article is designed to assist you with the download and installation process, ensuring a smooth experience for our webinar attendees.

Step-by-Step Guide to Downloading and Installing Microsoft Teams:

Step 1 #

Navigate to the Microsoft Teams download page by visiting https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/microsoft-teams/download-app and click on ‘Download App for Desktop.’

Step 2 #

Click on “Download Teams for Home.” This action will download the installer file to your browser’s downloads. Once the download is complete, double-click on that installer file to run it.

Step 3 #

The next step will prompt you to sign in to Microsoft Teams. If you already have a Microsoft Teams account, you can sign in using your existing credentials. If you don’t have an account, you will need to create a new one.

Step 4 #

For creating a new account, select “With Friends and Family” and then click ‘Next.’

Step 5 #

Choose “Use your Email Instead” and click ‘Next.’

Step 6 #

Enter your personal email address and click ‘Next.’

Step 7 #

Create a new password for your Microsoft Teams account and click ‘Next.’

Step 8 #

Enter your name in the provided field and click ‘Next.’

Step 9 #

Select your Country/region from the dropdown menu and enter your Date of Birth, then click ‘Next.’

Step 10 #

A verification code will be sent to your email address. Copy this code, return to the Microsoft Teams setup, enter the code in the designated field, and click ‘Next.’

Step 11 #

In some cases, to verify that you are not a robot, you may be asked to solve a puzzle. Click ‘Next’ to proceed to this verification step.

Step 12 #

Solve the puzzle as instructed on the screen.

Step 13 #

Once the puzzle is successfully completed, select ‘Continue’ on the next screen.

Step 14 #

Congratulations! Microsoft Teams is now installed on your device.

You can now return to the webinar confirmation email and click on the webinar link. This will open the webinar in the Microsoft Teams app, allowing you to watch it live.
